The EAGALA Model
Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA)
- Team approach consisting of horses, a Mental Health Professional and an Equine Specialist work with clients in all sessions of EAGALA.
- The focus is on the ground. This means there is no horseback riding in the sessions. The Mental Health Professional and the Equine Specialist are responsible for creating safe and ethical scenarios for the clients to interact with the horses and where the horses become metaphors for the clients in their surrounding.
- Is solution oriented, meaning, the EAGALA Model values and believes all clients hold the answers within themselves. The goal of the practice is to have clients find those answers through interaction with the horses. This is a hands on experience for the clients to problem-solve, engage in risk taking, explore creatively, and to experiment with themselves as well as the horses to reach a solution or solutions.
- EAGALA has a strong code of ethics which is followed during every session to ensure safety and the highest level of care.
