Horses are powerful
Horses are highly intuitive creatures and have an amazing ability to mirror or reflect how we feel, behave and the type of energy we hold within ourselves. This can help clients to achieve goals in a more expeditious and cost-effective manner. Through utilizing EAP and EAL in sessions, the interaction between horses and humans helps to demonstrate issues in relationships, thinking, emotions and behaviors. Horses help cultivate an awareness of subtle cues in ourselves and others. Through discussion of the session's events, clients are led to self-discovery of new and effective solutions to challenges they face in their daily lives.
Horses live in herds and family groups. Each member has a job and a sense of responsibility to the herd. When people participate in Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Programs, they discover who they are and find their own individual strengths within a team or family.
Dealing with horses requires work ethic, responsibility, assertiveness, communication skills (both verbal and nonverbal) and patience. These skills often lead to a successful lifestyle and enhance emotional, social, and cognitive growth. Horses provide instant and honest feedback without fear of rejection. This allows the client to understand what honesty looks like and to embrace it. The client learns, if they change their feelings, energy, and actions, then the outcome will also change.
